Bush Walks & Bino

When our family started spending lots of time with Jack, aside from our time together at East Isubilo Community Resource Center, he became like one of our sons. Each of our sons are so unique and have different interests that vary greatly, and our oldest son Owen is a nature enthusiast to say the least. 

Because Jack had also spent so much time in the bush in his early years, as he looked for food, or ran from authorities, or just plain adventured with friends, he loved being out in nature too. The pair became inseparable and would often go on bush walks with their binoculars to see how many bird species they could identify. They’d spend hours basking in the wonder of Zambia’s beautiful miombo woodlands near our home. To my knowledge, they identified over 100 species of birds over the years. They saw and captured many snakes and chameleons. Jack even captured a mongoose once with his bare hands! Who cares about rabies?

Those bush walks and getaways were important for Owen and Jack, and all of us. They were powerful reminders to slow down. To look closely. To stand in awe. To allow ourselves to wonder at the might, and beauty, and kindness of our great God. 

If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. - Jeremiah 29:13

As Jack Power slowed down and looked at his life, he realized there was a lot yet ahead of him. The best was yet to come and new and powerful possibilities were available if he only just received them as a gift and trusted Jesus. When he fully grasped this, and when you and I fully grasp this, lions, the future is bright!

There is so much to see and do an experience. So, grab your binos and get into some wild places. Jesus can’t wait to reveal Himself to you and to show you how He’s been involved in your story all along.  And He just can’t wait to adventure with you.
